Dysport in Olney, MD

If you are considering neurotoxin injections, you may be debating between Botox and Dysport.

Both Botox and Dysport are FDA-approved neuromodulators and used to relax facial wrinkles and lines. However, Dysport offers some unique benefits that you should be aware of.

Continue reading to learn all about Dysport, including how it works and how it compares to Botox and other antiaging injectable.

What Is Dysport?

Dysport is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that softens the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles. Like Botox, Xeomin, and Jeuveau, it belongs to a class of injectables known as neuromodulators and is comprised of a purified form of botulinum toxin type A.

How Does Dysport Work?

Dysport is injected into specific facial muscles and often used to relax forehead lines, glabellar lines (frown lines), crow’s feet, and other wrinkles.

It works by blocking nerve impulses, which signal muscles to contract, and decreasing muscle movement. In doing so, Dysport temporarily inhibits muscle contraction and smooths corresponding wrinkles and lines.

How Is Dysport Administered?

As a non-invasive, zero-downtime treatment, Dysport is performed in the comfort of your dermatologist or plastic surgeon’s office.

Prior to the procedure, ice or a topical anesthetic may be applied to numb the injection site. Then, Dysport is injected with a thin-needle to targeted facial muscles.

Treatment time is usually 10-20 minutes, and patients are free to resume normal activities immediately after.

When Can Patients See Dysport Results?

Dysport has a quicker onset of action than other neuromodulators and produces results in two-to-three days. At this time, patients will be pleased to note that they look like more refreshed and youthful versions of themselves.

What’s the Difference Between Dysport and Botox?

In addition to working faster than Botox, Dysport also offers greater product diffusion.

This is due to the fact that Dysport uses a higher dilution formula, which is ideal for treating larger areas like the forehead.

How Long Does Dysport Last?

Dysport results typically last three-to-four months.
