Xeomin in Olney, MD
Although Botox is the most well-known neurotoxin, it’s important to remember that there are other options to consider, including Xeomin.
Xeomin is FDA-approved to treat moderate to severe wrinkles and provides a more natural alternative to Botox. Patients are also less likely to develop a resistance to Xeomin, as it doesn’t contain any accessory proteins.

What Is Xeomin?
Like Botox and Dysport Xeomin is an injectable neuromodulator designed to smooth facial wrinkles and lines. It is comprised of a highly-purified form of botulinum toxin type A called incobotulinumtoxinA.
How Does Xeomin Work?
Using a very thin needle, Xeomin is injected into overactive facial muscles in order to temporarily inhibit muscle contraction.
In doing so, the neurotoxin softens moderate to severe wrinkles, including horizontal forehead lines, glabellar lines (11’s between the eyebrows), and crow’s feet.
How Is Xeomin Administered?
Xeomin is performed in an office setting and does not involve incisions, anesthesia, or downtime. It is administered as a series of precisely-placed injections and usually takes just 15-20 minutes.
Patients may experience a mild and temporary pinching sensation during treatment, but most find the process to be extremely quick, easy, and comfortable.
When Can Patients See Xeomin Results?
Xeomin’s wrinkle-smoothing effects become evident in a matter of days and usually peak after two weeks.
What Is the Difference Between Xeomin and Botox?
While Botox and Xeomin share a number of similarities, there is one key difference between them.
Xeomin employs a proprietary purification process and is manufactured without accessory proteins.
This is noteworthy because some patients develop a resistance to the accessory proteins found in Botox and Dysport.
As such, Xeomin provides an excellent alternative for individuals who have developed a resistance to Botox and other neuromodulators.
