Zepbound Dosing
Zepbound for weight loss is administered via a 2.5 mg weekly injection for the first month of treatment.
Dosing is subsequently increased to a 5 mg weekly injection for the next month. The maximum dosage for Zepbound is 15 mg per week.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Zepbound?
Zepbound is approved for overweight or obese adults who have been diagnosed with at least one weight-related condition, such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

How Does Zepbound Compare to Other Weight Loss Injectables?
Mounjaro
Both Zepbound and Mounjaro are tirzepatide injectables that can be used for weight loss. They are also administered at the same dose and schedule. However, one of the key differences lies in their FDA-approvals.
Mounjaro is FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes and may help patients lose weight. Whereas, Zepbound is FDA-approved specifically for weight loss.
As such, patients who have been using Mounjaro off-label may be inclined to switch to Zepbound for weight loss.
Wegovy
Wegovy is another FDA-approved injectable for weight loss. It is given once a week and contains semaglutide rather than tirzepatide.

Is Zepbound More Effective Than Its Competitors?
Clinical studies have shown Zepbound to be extremely effective for weight loss. More specifically, the results of two clinical studies revealed that participants taking 15 milligrams (mg) of Zepbound lost 18% and 12% of their body weight compared to placebo groups.
Based on these findings, researchers contend that Zepbound is more effective than Wegovy for weight loss. Experts also believe that Zepbound has demonstrated itself to be the most effective weight loss medication on the market.
